I couldn’t help myself but share this awesome super duper wedding with you. I loved everything about this day, from the epic Okataina Lodge, to the happy couple, to the hand made DOC signs and details they made. Everything fitted just perfectly together. I also loved how they made the DOC (Department of Conservation) theme fit with the Okataina Wilderness Lodge so badass!
You can wake me up for a wedding in in the wilderness anytime, I love going off grid for a few days and spending quality time with family and friends. That is exactly what Jacqui and Alan had planned for their guests. Just uninterrupted (read: no cellphone reception, bliss!) one on one time in one of the most stunning scenery of New Zealand, Rotorua. The morning started for the boys at the Lodge getting ready, and for the girls at the Amora Lake in Rotorua. They had planned their first look pre ceremony at a beautiful lakefront setting. The look in Alan’s eyes when he first saw Jacqui, that’s the sort of stuff everybody tries to find in love. Throughout the day we were blessed with the most perfect moody light, and just as we finished with the bridal party photos it started pooring down, how’s that for luck?
One of my highlight moments of the day was with the cutting of the cake. Now I am usually not a girl for standard traditions. Not that I don’t like cake (oh no!), but I often feel things can be shaken up a little. The moment Alan came out the of lobby carrying a chainsaw in his hands (and if you read carefully, you can see their names engraved in the blade) to cut the cake was one we won’t forget. Thank you so much for having us.
